Lilith\'s new game tops the U.S. casual games chart

Top-tier monster-catching games like *Pokémon* and *Paru: The Phantom Beast* typically rely on long-term progression and frequent battles to drive user retention, featuring relatively heavy gameplay. However, since last year, an increasing number of developers have been experimenting with lighter gameplay structures to reimagine this popular genre. Today, many developers are focusing on how to lower the entry barrier for users, enhance feedback, and make the act of “raising pets” itself more casual and suited to short, sporadic play sessions, while also tapping into potential growth segments such as casual users and female audiences.

Amid this trend, a “Coin Master-like” loop has begun to emerge in pet-collecting games. Whether it’s camp management or casual tower defense, the core concept is essentially the same: replacing the heavy combat and progression found in traditional pet-collecting mobile games with high-frequency feedback and simple gameplay loops.

Indeed, on May 21, *Clash of Critters*, published by Farlight Games (a subsidiary of Lilith Games), debuted at the top of the iOS App Store’s game charts in the U.S.; its ranking on the Google Play Store’s casual games chart in the U.S. also surged from 43rd place on the 22nd to first place by May 26, demonstrating an impressive climb. It is worth noting that *Palmon: Survival*, a pet-collecting SLG often referred to as the “mobile version of Paloo” and published by Lilith Games—which launched in select overseas regions in January 2025—has also achieved solid results internationally. Even earlier, in titles like *Far Light 84*, the company had already demonstrated its experimentation with concepts such as “pet companions” and “light-touch progression.” Now, *Clash of Critters* builds upon the monster-catching genre by incorporating a *Coin Master*-like framework. What kind of sparks will this gameplay combination ignite?
